Spiritual Ecology

With Jonathan Horwitz and Zara Waldeback

Spiritual Ecology

Saturday 5 July, 16.00 – 19.00
Pienza, the great hall

The videos we propose this month are dedicated to Spiritual Ecology, discipline according to which respect and care for the Environment derive from the awareness of its sacred Nature. Jonathan Horwitz and Zara Waldeback, of the Scandinavian Center for Shamanic Studies, speak about how environmental integrity is menaced by predatory economic interests, and how we can reconnect to the Earth through a deep communication with its essence, in order to obtain advice, healp and healing power.
According to Jonathan Horowitz, in Nordic languages there are two words for power: Macht, power as domination, and Kraft, power as energy, allowing one to realize oneself by staying connected to a universal inter-connectedness, which in the Norse traditions is called Urd’s Web.
The shaman does not abide to desire for dominion spurred by the Ego and uses power as energy, usually for practical issues related to healing, well-being and evolution of individuals, groups and commnities. But it’s possible to practice shamanism as a spiritual path, to enrich the depth and extension of our life experience and to practice solidarity, compassion and respect with all beings, human and non human, visibile and invisible.
Everything is consciousness: shamanism leads us to step on the threshold beyond which we begin to perceive the mistery of other dimensions.
